The Sunken Mine
Mine · Outlaw Territory · Danger 10
The Sunken Mine is a mine in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
A legendary mine that struck an underground river and flooded completely. The miners fled, leaving everything behind. Now the upper tunnels are partially drained, revealing waterlogged ore and equipment. Deeper sections remain fully flooded, hiding valuable resources and dangers. Some say there are air pockets deep inside where creatures lurk.
What you notice standing there
Water drips constantly. Ankle-deep pools cover the floor. The air is damp and musty. Tunnels disappear into dark water. Strange echoes bounce through flooded chambers. The feeling of being underwater persists even in dry sections.
Getting there
The Sunken Mine is a mine; it sits in the Outlaw Territory zone, in the Frontier region, and expects a character of at least level 18. It is among the most dangerous ground in the Territory. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.
What hunts here
6 creatures are known to range around The Sunken Mine: Blind Cave Stalker (level 20), Drowned Rat (level 18), Sunken Claim Runner (level 22), The Brood Matriarch (level 12), The Deep Foreman (level 26) and The Waterlogged (level 24). Each is recorded separately in the Field Guide, and a first kill on any species pays a substantial one-off experience bonus.
