Help & FAQ
Common questions answered
Is Desperados Destiny free to play?
Yes. Desperados Destiny is fully free to play in any modern web browser. No download, no launcher, no installation. There are no premium currencies, no pay-to-win shops, no gated content. The only optional payment is a one-time ad removal for supporters who prefer to play without advertising — this does not affect gameplay in any way.
What browsers are supported?
Desperados Destiny supports all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Brave, and Opera. The game has been tested on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. We recommend Chrome or Firefox for the best performance. JavaScript must be enabled. The game uses WebSockets for real-time updates — if you are behind a corporate firewall that blocks WebSocket connections, you may experience degraded functionality.
How do I create an account?
Click Register on the landing page, choose a username and password, and verify your email address. Account creation takes less than a minute. After account creation you will be guided through character creation — selecting your faction, starting town, and initial appearance. Your character is permanently linked to your account but you can have multiple characters per account.
Can I change my faction after character creation?
Yes, but it is intentionally difficult and irreversible without consequence. Faction switching requires reaching at least +50 reputation with the new faction (Ally standing) and accepting a permanent -25 reputation penalty with your original faction. Most players play their original faction for their full character's lifetime and create alts to explore the other factions. We recommend trying each faction with separate characters rather than switching mid-character.
How does the Destiny Deck combat system work?
Combat resolves through five-card poker hands. When you attack, you draw five cards. The strength of the hand (High Card up through Royal Flush) determines the strength of your attack. Each suit also maps to a system — Spades for Cunning attacks, Hearts for Spirit, Clubs for Force, Diamonds for Wealth. Holding the right suits matters more than always trying to make the best hand. Most fights take 2–4 rounds. Combat is turn-based, not real-time.
I found a bug. Where do I report it?
Bug reports can be sent through the in-game Help menu or by emailing the development team directly. Include your character name, the time the bug occurred, and a description of what you were doing when it happened. Screenshots are appreciated. We respond to bug reports within 48 hours. Critical issues (data loss, login problems) are addressed immediately.
Is there a community Discord?
Yes. The Desperados Destiny Discord server is the main community hub. Players, developers, and moderators all participate. You can find the invite link in the in-game Help menu. The Discord has channels for general discussion, faction-specific tactics, gang recruitment, lore discussion, and bug reports.
How is my account data stored?
Account data and character progress are stored on our backend infrastructure (hosted on Railway) using a MongoDB database. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext. Authentication tokens are JWT-based with short-lived access tokens. We do not sell or share your account data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
