A figure who appears at odd moments with information no one should have. Never gives a straight answer. Meets every new arrival off the stagecoach — nobody knows why. Referred to in-fiction as "The Stranger" (GDD §3.1 golden-path guide).
What you are walking into
Mysterious Stranger is level 10, carries 100 health, and is classed Standard. That makes it a mid-low threat for a character finding their feet. It has no trick to it beyond persistence, so the fight comes down to your draws and your gear. Every exchange resolves through the Destiny Deck: you draw five cards, choose what to hold, and the resulting poker hand decides how the action lands. Suit matches amplify the result, so the same fight against Mysterious Stranger plays out differently each time you take it on.
Where to find Mysterious Stranger
Mysterious Stranger is encountered at Red Gulch. You will need to have discovered and travelled to that location before it can appear as a target, and travel between regions carries its own risks — routes are rolled for interception, and a bad roll puts an encounter between you and your destination.
