The Passage Warden
Level 20 Boss · Dead Man's Stretch
The Passage Warden is one of the boss threats a player meets in Desperados Destiny, sitting at level 20.
Field notes
The ghost of the railroad surveyor who first mapped the Stretch and died lost in a canyon dead-end, unable to accept the mapping is done. Phantom survey-crew adds, then a ghostly transit-level that conjures false canyon walls, then a corporeal slam + sand-blast. His Survey reveals the secret tunnel to Shadow Depths, bypassing the Perdition's Gate toll.
What you are walking into
The Passage Warden is level 20, carries 300 health, and is classed Omen, a boss encounter. That makes it a mid-game threat that expects a built character. It leans on pressure, degrading your draws before a card is turned; steady hands matter more than big ones. Every exchange resolves through the Destiny Deck: you draw five cards, choose what to hold, and the resulting poker hand decides how the action lands. Suit matches amplify the result, so the same fight against The Passage Warden plays out differently each time you take it on.
Where to find The Passage Warden
The Passage Warden is encountered at Dead Man's Stretch. You will need to have discovered and travelled to that location before it can appear as a target, and travel between regions carries its own risks — routes are rolled for interception, and a bad roll puts an encounter between you and your destination. The full entry for Dead Man's Stretch covers what else is there.
What it drops
A kill pays 1400 experience and between $105 and $262. Its loot table can yield The Wardens Survey, Canyon Stone and Saltpeter. Drops are rolled per kill, so a full set takes repeat hunting. The first time you kill any species it is also recorded in your Field Guide, which pays a large one-off experience bonus and counts toward the Guide's completion milestones.
