The Scar is a canyon in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
A massive fissure plunging into lightless depths where reality itself feels wrong. This is where What-Waits-Below slumbers in cosmic dreams. The Nahi Coalition has guarded this place for generations, knowing that what lies beneath must never be disturbed. The air here carries whispers in languages never spoken by human tongues. Those who stare too long into the abyss report visions that shatter sanity. This is end-game content - forbidden, terrible, and not yet fully accessible.
What you notice standing there
Unnatural cold emanates from the fissure despite the desert heat. Whispers rise from depths that should be silent. Shadows move with no source. Animals refuse to approach within a mile. The wrongness is palpable - reality feels thin here, as if the universe itself recoils from what sleeps below.
Getting there
The Scar is a canyon; it sits in the Deadlands zone, in the Devils Canyon region, and expects a character of at least level 30. It is among the most dangerous ground in the Territory. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.

6 creatures are known to range around The Scar: Fracture Hawk (level 30), Scar Crawler (level 28), Scar Pilgrim (level 30), Starving Wendigo (level 28), The Scar Entity (level 32) and The Unmade (level 32). Each is recorded separately in the Field Guide, and a first kill on any species pays a substantial one-off experience bonus.
