The Painted Rocks
Sacred Site · Hunting Grounds · Danger 5
The Painted Rocks is a sacred site in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
A canyon wall covered in ancient pictographs and petroglyphs, some thousands of years old. The images depict hunts, ceremonies, celestial events, and beings that may be spirits or ancestors. Caves hidden in the rocks contain more secrets, known only to those who seek with open hearts.
What you notice standing there
Red and white ochre paintings cover the stone, telling stories in images. The rocks themselves seem to hum with old power. Hidden caves yawn in the cliff face, their depths unknown. The wind carries whispers that might be voices or just imagination.
Getting there
The Painted Rocks is a sacred site; it sits in the Hunting Grounds zone, in the Sacred Lands region. It carries real risk; travel here is not something to do underlevelled. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.
What hunts here
5 creatures are known to range around The Painted Rocks: Boulder Guardian (level 5), Hollow Crow (level 5), Mesa Tortoise (level 8), Pronghorn (level 1) and The Bone Singer (level 10). Each is recorded separately in the Field Guide, and a first kill on any species pays a substantial one-off experience bonus.
