The Caboose Bar is a saloon in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
Built from three retired railcars welded end-to-end and bolted to a concrete pad, the Caboose is where the workforce goes to complain about the work. The rumors here arrive on the same trains as the passengers. The bartender keeps a running tally of which rumors turned out to be true. His current accuracy rate is a source of professional pride.
What you notice standing there
The bar runs the length of a converted passenger car. Booths line both sides. The walls are covered in route maps, old timetables, and cards from places along the line. Workers in varying states of exhaustion and inebriation argue about pay, conditions, and the merits of various locomotive designs. The whiskey is cheap, plentiful, and honest about what it is.
Getting there
The Caboose Bar is a saloon; in the Town region, and expects a character of at least level 4. It carries real risk; travel here is not something to do underlevelled. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.
