Snake Creek is a wilderness in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
A dry creek bed that only flows after rare rains. Once a shared hunting ground, now a contested border. The Nahi claim ancestral rights. The Frontera claim survival necessity. Both are right. Both are desperate. Frontera raiders come here hunting game that's growing scarce. Blood has been shed on both sides—cousins killing cousins. Elder Soaring Eagle calls them "cousins who've lost their way." War Chief Red Thunder calls them "target practice." The truth is somewhere between tragedy and comedy, like everything else in the Sangre Territory.
What you notice standing there
The creek bed cracks like old leather except after the rare rains, when it turns to boot-sucking mud inside an hour. Bullet casings — Nahi brass and Frontera brass both — are worked into the silt like the border finally agreed on something. Neither side buries their dead here; that would mean admitting whose land it is.
Getting there
Snake Creek is a wilderness; it sits in the Coalition Lands zone, in the Border Territories region, and expects a character of at least level 4. It carries real risk; travel here is not something to do underlevelled. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.

6 creatures are known to range around Snake Creek: Border Sharpshooter (level 11), Creek Sidewinder (level 8), Dry-Creek Gila Monster (level 10), El Jefe (level 6), Nahi Creek Warden (level 9) and The Dry-Mouth (level 12). Each is recorded separately in the Field Guide, and a first kill on any species pays a substantial one-off experience bonus.
