River Crossing
Wilderness · Frontier · Danger 4
River Crossing is a wilderness in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
A shallow ford where the Rio Sangre can be crossed on horseback. Perfect for smuggling operations—if you can avoid the Nahi scouts patrolling the opposite bank. The water runs red with clay. Locals say it ran redder once, when the crossing was contested in blood.
What you notice standing there
The river whispers over rocks. Red clay stains everything. Hoof prints mark both banks. You can see Nahi territory from here—close enough to trade, close enough to fight. The border exists only in men's minds, but the blood it costs is real.
Getting there
River Crossing is a wilderness; it sits in the Frontier zone, in the Frontier region. It carries real risk; travel here is not something to do underlevelled. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.
What hunts here
3 creatures are known to range around River Crossing: Nahi Border Scout (level 5), River Otter (level 8) and The River Taxman (level 13). Each is recorded separately in the Field Guide, and a first kill on any species pays a substantial one-off experience bonus.
