Mountain Foothills is a wilderness in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
The lower slopes of the territory's highest mountains. Pine forests give way to rocky terrain as you climb. Mountain herbs grow here that are prized by healers. The trail is steep and exhausting, but the views are spectacular.
What you notice standing there
Thin air makes breathing labored. Pine scent mixes with the smell of snow from higher elevations. Eagles circle overhead. The ground is rocky and treacherous. Every step upward is an effort.
Getting there
Mountain Foothills is a wilderness; it sits in the Frontier zone, in the Frontier region. It is dangerous country, and the roads to it are worse than the place itself. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.

4 creatures are known to range around Mountain Foothills: Cave Bear (level 6), Grey-Fang (level 12), Mountain Lion (level 4) and Prairie Wolf Pack (level 8). Each is recorded separately in the Field Guide, and a first kill on any species pays a substantial one-off experience bonus.
