Ghost Mining Camp
Mine · Frontier · Danger 7
Ghost Mining Camp is a mine in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
An abandoned mining camp where a played-out claim led to mass exodus. Equipment still litters the site, and the mine entrance yawns darkly. Some say the mine isn't actually played out - the miners fled because they found something down there they didn't want to disturb.
What you notice standing there
Silent and still. Tents rot on their frames. Rusted equipment everywhere. The mine entrance is like a dark eye watching you. An oppressive feeling hangs over everything, as if you're being observed.
Getting there
Ghost Mining Camp is a mine; it sits in the Frontier zone, in the Frontier region. It is dangerous country, and the roads to it are worse than the place itself. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.
What hunts here
5 creatures are known to range around Ghost Mining Camp: Canyon Bandit (level 5), Dead-Camp Overseer (level 10), Mine Haunt (level 7), Shaft Revenant (level 12) and The Foreman's Ghost (level 14). Each is recorded separately in the Field Guide, and a first kill on any species pays a substantial one-off experience bonus.
