Elder's Shelter
Camp · Danger 4
Elder's Shelter is a camp in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
A simple open-sided structure beside the spring where Standing Oak has kept himself since deciding the world was moving fast enough without him adding to it. He is not senile, not reclusive, and not, as far as anyone can determine, particularly old. He just has better things to do than travel. He has been here long enough that the shelter grew around him rather than the other way around.
What you notice standing there
The shelter is simple but unhurried — a sleeping mat, a fire ring, a stack of things that have been kept because they tell a story. Standing Oak sits where he always sits and faces the spring. He does not rush to look up when someone arrives. This is either meditation or a power move. Possibly both.
Getting there
Elder's Shelter is a camp; in the Town region, and expects a character of at least level 8. It carries real risk; travel here is not something to do underlevelled. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.
