Crossroads Shrine is a shrine in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
Four paths meet here and in their center someone has built — over years, incrementally, with no apparent coordination — a shrine from found objects, carved stones, bottle caps, and bones. No single tradition claims it. Nahi leave feathers. Settlers leave coins. Frontera leave bullets. Everything left here stays intact, which is unusual given the traffic.
What you notice standing there
Wind moves through the crossroads in a way that is not entirely explained by geography. The shrine sits in the exact center, surrounded by years of accumulated offerings. Nothing rots here. Nothing rusts. Even the food offerings left last month are fresh, which no one mentions aloud.
Getting there
Crossroads Shrine is a shrine; in the Town region, and expects a character of at least level 5. It carries real risk; travel here is not something to do underlevelled. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.
