The Abandoned Monastery
Ruins · Outlaw Territory · Danger 7
The Abandoned Monastery is a ruins in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
A crumbling stone monastery built by Spanish missionaries two centuries ago, then abandoned when the natives proved hostile. The buildings are falling apart but still impressive. Legends tell of treasures hidden by the fleeing monks, though ghost stories keep most away. Treasure hunters occasionally brave the site, but few find what they seek.
What you notice standing there
Stone walls thick with moss. Broken stained glass crunches underfoot. The smell of ancient dust and decay hangs heavy. Shadows move in corners that might be rats, wind, or something else. The silence is profound and unnerving.
Getting there
The Abandoned Monastery is a ruins; it sits in the Outlaw Territory zone, in the Frontier region. It is dangerous country, and the roads to it are worse than the place itself. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.
