Mariposa Springs
Wilderness · Frontier · Danger 3
Mariposa Springs is a wilderness in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
A spring-fed pool in a natural sandstone hollow. Butterflies in impossible numbers. All three factions send people here.
What you notice standing there
Water pools clear and cold in a bowl of sun-warmed sandstone. Thousands of butterflies drift through shafts of afternoon light — orange, gold, and white — landing on everything that holds still long enough. The air smells of wet rock and desert bloom. Scouts from all three factions nod warily across the water.
Getting there
Mariposa Springs is a wilderness; it sits in the Frontier zone, in the Frontier region. It carries real risk; travel here is not something to do underlevelled. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.
What hunts here
6 creatures are known to range around Mariposa Springs: Desert Sidewinder (level 2), Oasis Coyote (level 3), Oasis Hawk (level 4), Spring Claimant (level 5), The Water Baron (level 7) and Water Thief (level 3). Each is recorded separately in the Field Guide, and a first kill on any species pays a substantial one-off experience bonus.
