Crystal Cavern
Sacred Site · Danger 6
Crystal Cavern is a sacred site in the Sangre Territory, the 1869 frontier setting of the free browser MMO Desperados Destiny.
The place itself
A cathedral of pale stone deep in Echo Caves where mineral formations catch torchlight and scatter it across the walls like broken stars. The Nahi say ancestors speak here through the acoustics; the echoes do repeat words back in a way that unsettles even confirmed atheists. Whoever tried to chip samples out of the wall gave up — every strike brought the ceiling down a little closer.
What you notice standing there
Crystal formations pulse faintly in the dark, not with magic — just phosphorescent minerals — but try telling your spine that. The air is cold and still and carries sound so perfectly you can hear your own heartbeat. A blind man sits cross-legged at the center, utterly unbothered by the dark.
Getting there
Crystal Cavern is a sacred site; in the Town region, and expects a character of at least level 10. It is dangerous country, and the roads to it are worse than the place itself. Travel in Desperados Destiny costs energy and takes in-game time, and a route can be interrupted — the danger rating of the road feeds directly into how often that happens. Locations must be discovered before you can travel to them directly, and discovering one for the first time pays experience.
