Yard Rat is level 1, carries 9 health, and is classed Vulture. That makes it an early-game threat, reachable in your first sessions. It fights straightforwardly, which makes it a clean read on whether your current build actually works. Every exchange resolves through the Destiny Deck: you draw five cards, choose what to hold, and the resulting poker hand decides how the action lands. Where to find Yard Rat
Yard Rat is encountered at Red Gulch Rail Yard. What it drops
A kill pays 12 experience and between $1 and $1. Its loot table can yield Animal Bones. Drops are rolled per kill, so a full set takes repeat hunting. The first time you kill any species it is also recorded in your Field Guide, which pays a large one-off experience bonus and counts toward the Guide's completion milestones.
