The matriarch of the Prairie Wolf Pack — a grey she-wolf of unusual size and cunning who has claimed the old barn as her den. The pack moves by her will. She has never fled anything in her life.
What you are walking into
Old Grey is level 10, carries 220 health, and is classed Scourge Lord, a boss encounter. That makes it a mid-low threat for a character finding their feet. It fights by attrition — damage that keeps working after the hand is played, so a long fight favours it rather than you. Every exchange resolves through the Destiny Deck: you draw five cards, choose what to hold, and the resulting poker hand decides how the action lands. Suit matches amplify the result, so the same fight against Old Grey plays out differently each time you take it on.
Where to find Old Grey
Old Grey is encountered at Abandoned Ranch. You will need to have discovered and travelled to that location before it can appear as a target, and travel between regions carries its own risks — routes are rolled for interception, and a bad roll puts an encounter between you and your destination. What it drops
A kill pays 650 experience and between $19 and $46. Its loot table can yield Grey Matriarch Pelt and Wolf Pelt. Drops are rolled per kill, so a full set takes repeat hunting. The first time you kill any species it is also recorded in your Field Guide, which pays a large one-off experience bonus and counts toward the Guide's completion milestones.
